Isaac Petersen 26/08/1982 New Zealand
I grew up by the beach in New Plymouth - Taranaki, and started surfing at the age of nine.
I have always been in awe of the waves and the sea. This love of the ocean, and where I was born, combined with a passion for art as a child, was the foundation for my success as an oil painter in New Zealand. I started painting professionally at the age of 19 years old.
I now reside in Yamba, Australia, still drawing inspiration for my art, from the ocean...my whole family loves getting down to the beach everyday!
A number of years ago I began including my wife Erika in many of my paintings, to add life and depth to an already beautiful surrounding, which is often water.
I have had numerous people seek out my paintings from around the world, which is very rewarding and I feel honoured when I am commissioned to paint 'a piece of significance' for clients.
I also enjoy meeting all the interesting people who buy my work, and often get to hang the artwork in their homes myself!
My work is a culmination of stories from my life, my home, and the places I have been.
